Since Italo Club Lounge at Florence Santa Maria Novella train station was our second Italo lounge (the first one being the lounge at Milano Centrale), we knew what to expect (not much), so we did not arrive early in hopes of having a light lunch and a glass of wine, like we usually do at the airport lounges.

Italo, also known as NTV Italo, is a private high-speed train company in Italy. It operates trains on several major routes throughout the country, including Milan, Rome, Venice, Florence, Naples, and Turin.

Italo trains are known for their modern design, high-speed travel, and comfortable amenities.

Italo offers several types of services on its trains (“ambiences”):

  • Standard
  • Premium
  • Business
  • Executive

The Executive class comes with the access to Italo lounges.

The Italo Club lounges offer a range of amenities for passengers, including comfortable seating, complimentary refreshments, and access to power outlets for charging devices. It also includes free Wi-Fi, magazines, and private bathroom.

Location

Firenze Santa Maria Novella is located in the Piazza della Stazione, just a short walk from the city center, the Duomo, and other popular tourist destinations.

The station is a hub for both regional and long-distance trains, including high-speed trains such as the Eurostar, Frecciarossa, and, of course, Italo. It is well connected to other parts of Italy, including Rome, Milan, Venice, and Naples, as well as other European cities such as Paris, Zurich, and Munich. There are also regular bus and tram connections to other parts of the city, making it easy for travelers to get around.

Finding the Italo lounge at Firenze Santa Maria Novella is very easy – the lounge is located all the way to the left of the train station (if you are facing the tracks).

Lounge Access

Italo Club Lounge at Florence Santa Maria Novella train station hours are 7.05 am to 9.05 pm.

You can access the lounge if you are traveling in Club Executive class or you are Italo Più Privilege or Platinum member.

Seating

Italo Club Lounge at Florence Santa Maria Novella is small, about the same size as the lounge at Milano Centrale.

Here you will find the same red couches as at Milan lounge plus a few tables.

Luckily, when we arrived, the lounge was not busy, so we had no problem finding a place to seat.

Food & Drinks

Unlike the Italo Club lounge in Milan, food & drinks at Florence lounge are self-serve.

Don’t expect to have a meal at the lounge before your train ride – the only food options are chips, cookies, and crackers.

The drink choices were juice, still & sparkling water, and a variety of soda beverages (Coke, Pepsi, Schweppes, etc). There is also an automated coffee machine that can make you anything from espresso to hot chocolate.

Final Thoughts

Italo Club Lounge at Florence is a fine place to hang out for a few minutes before the train, but, as we are learning from our train travels, train station lounges are much different from the airport lounges in terms of food & drink offerings and amenities.
