While we visit airport lounges quite often (thanks to our Priority Pass membership), Italo Club lounge at Milano Centrale was our only second train station lounge, so we were very excited to check it out.

Italo trains are operated by Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori (NTV). NTV is a privately owned train operator created to compete with state-owned Trenitalia.

Its network is smaller than Trenitalia’s but it covers such popular tourist destinations as Rome, Florence, Venice, and more.

There are four travel classes or, as Italo calls them, “‘ambiences”:

  • Standard
  • Premium
  • Business
  • Executive

The Executive class comes with the access to Italo lounges.

Location

Milano Centrale is a beautiful and VERY busy train station. It is the second largest station in Italy size-wise, but it is the largest station in Europe volume-wise.

However, regardless how busy the station gets, finding Italo Club Lounge at Milano Centrale is fairly easy:

If you enter the station through the main entrance and take a left, you will find the lounge in the middle of the left wing, just past the train gates.

The lounge is on the second floor. If you have luggage you don’t want to drag up the stairs (or just not in the mood for stairs, period), there is an elevator to the right of the staircase.

Lounge Access

Italo lounge hours are 6:50 am to 8:35 pm.

You can access the lounge if you are traveling in Club Executive class or you are Italo Più Privilege or Platinum member.

Seating & Amenities

Italo Club lounge at Milano Centrale is small, with about ten 2-seater couches, one large couch, and a few bar seats.

When we arrived, the lounge was busy, and we snatched the last available couch as someone was leaving right when we came in. However, the lounge emptied 15 minutes later.

The lounge is all glass, and, since it is on the second floor, it offers a great vantage point to do some people-watching, BUT… The glass makes it feel like you are in a terrarium, and it gets uncomfortably hot in the room.

You don’t need to worry about missing your train as there is a timetable with the train arrival information in the lounge.

The Wi-Fi in the lounge is not the fastest, but hey, it is free.

There are also several magazines available for your perusal.

Food & Drinks

The food and drink options are limited.

Drink choices were: juice, water, sparkling water, soda, and coffee beverages.

As for food, there were only sweet and savory pastries, and biscotti.

The food and drinks were served by the lounge attendant.

Final Thoughts

I wouldn’t arrive early at Milano Centrale just to experience the lounge, but if you have some time to kill before the departure, the Italo Club lounge is a great place to escape the busy train station.

Provided you can find a place to sit.
