Aventura Hotel Review | Universal Orlando

Advertisements

We have stayed at the Universal’s Aventura hotel at the end of August, just about a week after it opened. This hotel is geared towards adults but we have enjoyed our stay nevertheless. I wouldn’t necessarily go out of my way to stay here again, but we will definitely return to Aventura if the price is right.

Check in

The check in line took forever. I spent over 10 minutes waiting for my turn, 10 minutes don’t seem that bad but when you can go straight to your room at a Disney resort (provided you have a Magic Band and completed the online check in) it is 9 minutes too long.

The lady at the counter did not mention that we need to scan the room key in the elevator so we went on a little elevator ride until we had figured that out.

Two things to bring up regarding the arrival:

While they have the bell desk, they will not assist you with bringing the luggage to your room beyond providing a luggage cart.

They did not let Amazon Prime Now delivery driver in the building to leave my order at the bell services so I had to come out to meet her. This has never happened to me before.

Room

We stayed in Standard 2 Queen room. The room design is very modern. I liked the glass partition between sink area and bedroom until I wanted to put on makeup in the morning while Bunky was still sleeping and realized that I would definitely wake her up if I turn on the light.

Our room was mostly clean with the exception of long black hair near the sink. I have no idea how anyone could have missed it – it was so obvious.

Having a tablet to control the lights and TV is innovative and it seems like a great idea until you need to turn the volume down and it is a 3 step process to do so (turn the tablet on -> navigate to the TV controls menu -> adjust the volume slider). Not that it would deter me from staying here again, just something to be aware of. Being able to cast Netflix, YouTube, Prime Video etc is great.

Pool

I have promised Bunky this trip won’t be go-go-go as most of our trips are, so we spent most of the days by the pool. It was never crowded and we never had an issue finding a lounge chair.

Aventura’s pool doesn’t have slides like the neighboring Cabana Bay but they do have a kids play area with the pop-up jets.

Dining

Aventura’s dining options include:

Starbucks, Urban Pantry (a food court with sushi, pizza, burger stations), and rooftop bar Bistro 17.

The food quality was excellent, though it was on the expensive side.

Bistro 17 on the top floor is a must: the view is amazing and the bao buns are to die for.
